A session with a newborn and a toddler is never quite an easy feat – but fun is always a good descriptor! We don’t aim for perfection, we take lots of breaks for snacks, silly play time, and even time to let a tantrum run its course. When I go into any session ready to expect the chaos and stay calm through it all – it really translates into a laid back, fun atmosphere, no matter how much energy is exploding from the room.

Becca and her family have been in front of my camera multiple times, and the familiarity is so refreshing. I love the opportunity to work with my clients over and over again, for familiarity, yes, but also because I get to see their sweet families grow. I also get to know their homes, which rooms have the best light, and learn their unique preferences and styles. Becca has created a lovely home for indoor photography, with bright fabrics and neutral decor. It never really matters where we end up in the home, we always end up with photos that are timeless and bright.

My favorite set of photos from this gallery are the ones in the nursery. I didn’t require much from the toddler, just let him do his thing and asked dad to play with him for a bit. I went into “fly on the wall” mode and let this family moment unfold. Since this kiddo was happy and loved, the session *feels* very happy and fully of love. It’s an art learning how to walk the line of posed and candid. It comes down to what feels right in that moment, knowing when to the let the pose go.

Thankful for clients who always trust my vision, and who would rather have real connection over perfection every time! Being a newborn photographer in West Lafayette, Indiana has many perk, the top one being all of the many amazing people who live in this little town. This family included!
