Kitchens are for Photo Sessions | Embracing Fun and Happy Moments

A family of five makes pancakes in their kitchen for a West Lafayette family photography session full of real smiles, genuine connection, and happy memories.

There is a time and place for those sessions with picture-perfect outfits, beautiful outdoor location, and big look-at-the-camera smiles. But for those families with little ones who need more space to breathe, consider an in-home photo session of doing an activity together that you all love.

This family reached out to me ready for something a little different. They make pancakes every Saturday morning and they thought it would be really fun to come and have me document it. Just them, in their own space, doing their thing. They knew the routine so well that, other than the quick adjustment of having to get used to the camera, the smiles and laughter came so naturally. All I had to do was tell them where to stand to get the best window light, and the rest just kind of unfolded!

Saturday morning pancakes is so fun, but doesn’t have to be your activity. I love following families around at their favorite playground, playing tag in their backyard, doing a favorite hobby like golf (yep, I’ve totally done a golf session!)…the ideas are endless!
