Baby Thomas’ grandparents flew in all the way from Brazil for his newborn session in Lafayette, Indiana.

Bringing home a brand new baby is something that happens very few times in a person’s life, and to have that kind of experience happen while your parents are an ocean away can be hard. This family had other plans. Baby Thomas’ grandparents flew in all the way from Brazil to help welcome him home. For his newborn session in Lafayette, Indiana, I was so happy to include them because it made the entire gallery so much more sentimental and special. I’m so glad I got to capture so many precious memories and moments with all of them.

They almost didn’t book the photo session.

It wasn’t until Thomas’ parents arrived home from the hospital after an extended stay in the NICU that they realized time was fleeting. They didn’t initially plan to book a photographer, but they couldn’t help but want to capture every detail of his precious life. They contacted me after they were home from the hospital and I was so happy to work them in on short notice. It is certainly never too late to book photos for your baby, even if you are already home from the hospital!

Using my client for a newborn outfit.

It’s not always easy to know how to pick out an outfit for a newborn session in your home. Sometimes the outfits you have on hand down exactly match the outfit you hope to wear yourself. Thankfully, I bring a large suitcase full of newborn outfits to every session, and almost all of the clients choose to dress their baby in something from my collection. Thomas’ mom selected a beautiful seafoam green two-piece outfit for him, which perfectly complimented their neutral clothing choices.

My collection of newborn outfits and blankets are available to all of my newborn clients for use during their in-home sessions at not charge. I’m happy to offer this complimentary service, which helps make sure all of your photos are beautiful, cohesive, and it gives you one less thing to think about as you prepare for your session.

A special cake for a special milestone.

If you’ve had a baby go through a NICU experience, you know that celebrating every moment and milestone is huge. Thomas’ family wanted to mark his two month birthday by picking up a very special cake. I loved the super hero inspired theme, because it certainly takes so much strength and bravery for these sweet babies to go through everything they in those first trying days of their life. I’m so glad that this family asked me to incorporate this cake. And really, not only the cake…I’m absolutely honored to have been asked to document this special time as a family, with multiple generations coming together from long distances to celebrate and love this sweet baby boy!
